THE FARM.

This unique permaculture farm has a perfect mix of organic agriculture lands, private reserve and breathtaking waterfalls. Here you may learn about organic agriculture and the processes involved.  6 hectares are secondary forest, protected under FONAFIFO, a country initiative that promotes forest conservation, and the buildings and agriculture are in the 3 other hectares for a total of 9 hectares. The gardens have been created with native plants in mind.

The Project is an agroecology system, establishing multiple and diversified production systems, aside from agrotourism and ecological tourism.  The agriecological system integrates the components of a productive system, among itself, and with the surrounding ecosystem, in this case, the presence of primary forest with a great array of functional biodiversity that are vegetable species, animals and microorganisms that promote the development of agricultural systems.  The forest is a fountain of diversity that supports the productive processes and enhances its tourist use.

Anjala Farm is located 3.5 hours from San José, 1.5 hours from the nearest beach, Dominical Beach. It is covered by approximately 3 kms (1.86 miles) of walking trails, with access to 2 waterfalls in the same farm, the biggest on Río Pejibaye, as seen on the pictures.

The property is located in a rural community where knowledge of the Spanish language is necessary to get around. The caretaker speaks limited English, but technology allows her to get in touch with people without problem. Irene is not always on the property but can assist you in finding local activities and services that will make your stay unforgettable.
